Vidya Stands Up For Equality
The actress will encourage the idea at the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne
Vidya Balan will be seen as the face of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, for the fourth year in a row. The festival, that celebrates Indian cinema internationally, will kickstart on 14th August till the 27th in Melbourne.
This year, the festival's theme is around equality - one that Vidya suggested herself. Speaking on this, the actress said, "Equality is something that I feel very passionately about ... and in today's times, nothing seems more imperative than a free and equal world. I believe that art and films can help condition and change mindsets and attitudes. I am overjoyed to see such wonderful films and events in our program that will celebrate and embrace the diversity that defines us all."
Vidya sure is the ideal choice for the theme of equality. After all, she is often revered for transforming the way women are portrayed in Bollywood, with her films like The Dirty Picture and Kahaani.
